This Week's Contests:
Note that the semi-annual North American Sprint SSB Contest is Saturday
night 7-11 PM EDT. 20, 40, 80M SSB. KU8E is getting up teams (two to
five members). Please e-mail Jeff at ku8e at ku8e.com if you can be on a
team. I have signed up myself.
1. QRP Fox Hunt. First of a new season. 0100-0230Z Wed (Tuesday night
local date). 40M. Two foxes (K9CW, Drew, Il and W9CF, Kevin, Az) will
be calling between 7030 and 7050 kHz. Exchange: RST, SPC, Name, Power.
Work only the two foxes and do not spot their frequencies. Most foxes
will start out split listening up 1 to 1 1/2 kHz and go to simplex when
the pile up dies down. Depending on skip zone, K9CW could be just
outside or just inside the skip zone. W9CF will be outside the skip
zone. So, if you can hear K9CW, try to work him first. 5W max power.
2. Phone Fray. Every Tuesday night local date. 0230-0259Z Wed. 15,
20, 40, 80, 160M SSB. 100W max power. Exchange: Name + SPC. Use your
NAQP SSB module in your contest logger. Mults count per band. No QSY
rule. Look around 21325, 14250, 7175, 3800, 1875 kHz.
3. CWOps Club CWT Mini Tests. Note that since the time chane, the
morning session is earlier (so I can usually work it before I go off to
work) and the evening session is earlier (so I can work it before my
usual bedtime). Every Wednesday local date. 1300Z, 1900Z, 0300Z
(Thursday UTC date). 160-10M CW. Exchange: Name + CWOps# or SPC. Look
around 027 to 047 kHz on the higher bands and around 1815-1820 kHz on 160M.
4. NCCC RTTY Sprint. Every Thursday night. 0145-0215Z Friday. 15,
20, 40, 80, 160M RTTY. 100W max power. One/one kHz QSY rule. Exchange:
both calls, #, name, SPC. Same band dupes OK after one intervening
QSO. Look around 080-082 kHz and up from 1805 kHz.
5. QRP Fox Hunt. 80M. Same as #1 above except on Thursday night local
date and the foxes will be K9CW, Drew, Il and N0UR, Jim, MN. Both
should be workable from our area of the country QRP Frequencies: 3550
to 3570 Khz.
6. NCCC NS Sprint. Every Thursday night. 0230-0259Z Friday. 15, 20,
40, 80, 160M CW. 100W max power. One/one kHz QSY rule. Exchange: both
calls, #, name, SPC. No same band dupes permitted. Look around 039-046
kHz on the higher bands and up from 1815 kHz.
7. Worked All Europe DX Contest, RTTY. 48 hours of Sat/Sun UTC. (36
hours max for single ops with minimum of 60 minutes off times.) 80-10M
RTTY. Exchange: RST + serial #. Work everybody. Everybody can send
and receive QTCs for extra points, but only with stations on another
continent. See rules for details.
8. 10-10 International Club Fall Contest, Digital. 0001Z Sat to 2359Z
Sun. 10M Digital. Exchange: Name + 10-10# (or "0") + SPC.
9. Japan International DX Contest, Phone. 0700Z Sat to 1300Z Sun.
80-10M SSB. Exchange: RS + CQ Zone # (05 for many of us, 04 for the
others) or JA Prefecture #. Work only Japanese stations.
10. Straight Key Century Club Week End Sprintathon. 1200Z Sat to 2400Z
Sunday. 24 hours maximum operating time. 160-6M CW. Use a mechanical
key. Exchange: RST, SPC, Name, SKCC# or "NONE." Activities center
around 050-060 kHz on 80-10M.
11. OK/OM DX Contest, CW. (Czech Republic and Slovak Republic). 1200Z
Sat to 1200Z Sun. 160-10M CW. Exchange: RST + serial # or 3 Digit

12. North American Sprint Contest, SSB. 0000-0400Z Sunday (Saturday
night local date). 20, 40, 80M SSB. Exchange: both calls, #, name,
SPC. There is a team competition. See note above.
13. 4 States QRP Group Second Sunday Sprint. 0100-0300Z Monday.
160-10M CW, SSB. Exchange: RS(T) + SPC, +4S # or power. Most activity
seems to be around 14060, 7121, 7040, and 3564 kHz. 5W max power.
14. Phone Fray. See #2 above.
15. QRP Fox Hunt Tuesday Nov. 12. See #1 above. Foxes will be N9AW,
Jerry, Wi and KR0U Tim, Co.

Hope everyone has a good week end and a lot of QSOs. Something for
everyone this weeekend, with SSB, RTTY, CW, DX, Domestic, 10M, Straight
Key. Everything but VHF and you could work the SKCC WES on 6M. 73,
John, for SECC.
