This Week's Contests:
1. Straight Key Century Club Sprint Europe. 1900-2100Z today Thursday
8/6. 80-6M CW. Use a mechanical key. Exchange: RST, SPC< Name, SKCC#
or "NONE." Work everyone. There is usually a fair amount of activity
on 20M in this one, including a number from Europe.
2. QRP Fox Hunt. 0100-0230Z Friday (Thursday night local date). Two
QRP foxes will be calling between 14050 and 14070 kHz. 5W max power.
Exchange: RST, SPC, Name, Power. Foxes are scheduled to be WX2S,
STEVE, NJ and K0DTJ, BRIAN, CA. Work only the two foxes and do not spot
their frequencies.
3. NCCC RTTY Sprint. Every Thursday night local date, 0145-0215Z. 15,
20, 40, 80, 160M RTTY. 100W max power. One/one kHz QSY rule. Exchange:
both calls, #, name, SPC. Same band dupes OK after one intervening
QSO. Look around 082 kHz on other bands and up from 1805 kHz.
4. NCCC NS Sprint. Every Thursday night local date, 0230-0259Z. 15,
20, 40, 80m 160M CW. 100W max pwer. One/one kHz QSY rule. Exchange:
both calls, #, name, SPC. No same band dupes allowed. Look around
040-045 kHz on higher bands and up from 1815 kHz on 160M.
5. Worked All Europe (WAE) Contest, CW. 80-10M CW. 48 hours of
weekend UTC. Exchange: RST + serial #. There is also a QTC component.
You can send up to 10 QTC to a European op. A QTC consists of time,
call, serial # of a previous QSO. The same QTC info may only be sent
successfully once. You can send additional QTCs to the same Eu op
until you reach 10. Work only European stations. There is a club
competition, so be sure to put your club name in the Cabrillo header of
your log. Most logging programs are set up to handle the QTCs. I have
personally used CT and N1MM+ and I am sure WinTest is the same.
6. Straight Key Century Club Weekend Sprintathon (WES). 1200Z Sat to
2400Z Sun. 24 hours max operation. 160-6M CW. Exchange: RST, SPC,
Name, SKCC# or "NONE." 5 bonus points per QSO if you use a newly home
made key. In any case, use a mechanical key.
7. MD-DC QSO Party. 1400Z Sat to 0400Z Sun. 160M - 432 mHz. CW,,
Phone, Digital. Read the rules for exchange information on digital
modes other than CW. Exchange: Entry class + SPC. Entry classes are:
QRP - STD (home stations up to 100W) - Club - ROVer - MOBile - AMPlified
(home stations up to 600W) and Unlimited (home stations over 600W).
Bonus points for one QSO with W3VPR. You must submit their summary
sheet. I hope the contest loggers are up to date with the new rules for
this year. There are power mults. See rules. At least two mobile
operations have been announced, both on SSB.
8. 4 States QRP Group Second Sunday Sprint. 0000-0200Z Monday (Sunday
night local date). 160-10M CW, SSB. Exchange: RST, SPC, 4S# or power.
Max power CW 5W, SSB 10W. I have never seen a SSB QSO reported in
this one. Most operation will be on CW and the main frequencies are:
14060, 7122, 3564 kHz. Sometimes I have found limited activity around
7040 kHz.
9. World Wide Side Band Activity Contest. Every Monday night local
date. 0100-0159Z Tuesday. 160-6M SSB. Exchange: RS + Age/Gender
Group. (OM, YL, Youth, Youth YL). See website to download a UDC file
for N1MM+.
10. North American QRP CW Club August Sprint. 0030-0230Z Wed (Tuesday
night local date). 20, 40, 80M CW. 5W max power. Exchange: RST, SPC,
NAQCC# or power. Call "CQ NA." Double your score for using a hand key.
1 1/2 times your score for use of a bug.
11. Phone Fray. Every Tuesday night local date. 0230-0259Z. 15, 20,
40, 80, 160M SSB. 100W max power. Exchange: Name + SPC. You can use
your NAQP SSB module. Suggested frequencies: 21325, 14250, 7175, 3800,
1875 kHz. No QSY rule. This will be good practice for the real NAQP
SSB, which will be the weekend after the once coming up.
12. CWOps Club CWT Mini Tests. Three separate one-hour mini-tests.
Every Wednesday local date. 1300Z, 1900Z, 0300Z (Thursday UTC date).
160-10M CW. Exchange: Name + NAQCC# or SPC. Look around 025-050 kHz
and lower on 160M.
PLEASE LET ME KNOW ASAP IF YOU WANT TO BE ON A TEAM FOR NAQP SSB this
year. This will be an excellent activity to substitute for the canceled
Huntsville Ham Fest.
Hope everyone has a nice week and weekend and a lot of QSOs. 73, John,
K4BAI. For SECC.
