SECC is pleased to welcome to score submission Randy Farmer, W8FN. Randy
grew up in Ohio, lived a long time in TX, and has recently retired to
the part of NC which is inside all the SECC circles. Randy operated at
PJ4A with me and Jeff, KU8E, a few years ago. Maybe we can entice him
to join us again after travel the the Caribbean islands returns to
normal. Randy joined SECC several months ago and has just got his fine
station QRV. A tower will come later.
This Week's Contests:
1. Tonight, Thursday local date. NCCC RTTY Sprint. 0145-0215Z Friday.
15, 20, 40, 80, 160M RTTY. 100W maximum power. One/one kHz QSY rule.
Exchange: both calls, #, name, SPC. Same band dupes OK after one
intervening QSO. Look around 080-082 kHz and up from 1803 kHz on 160.
2. Thursday local date. NCCC NS Sprint. 0230-0259Z Friday. 15, 20,
40, 80, 160M CW. 100W maximum power. One/one kHz QSY rule. Exchange:
both calls, #, name, SPC. No same band dupes permitted. Look around
040-046 kHz and up from 1815 kHz on 160M.
3. RSGB Hope QSO Party, CW. 1430-1600Z Friday. 80-10M. Exchange: RST

4. RTTY Weekend Sprint. 1600-1959Z Sat. 80-10M RTTY. Exchange: both

5. Baltic Contest. 2100Z Sat to 0200Z Sun. 80M CW, SSB. Exchange:
RS(T) + serial #. Work everyone. Mores points for ES/YL/LY stations.
6. Day of the YLs Contest. 0001Z Sun to 2359Z Mon. 80-10M +VHF. CW,
SSB, RTTY. Exchange: RS(T) + "YL" or "OM." OMs may work only YLs.
This reminds me of the once-popular YL/OM contest sponsored by YLRL. I
hope this one will be successful. I'd love to hear some more YLs on the
air making QSOs.
7. QRPARCI Hootowl Sprint. 0000-0100Z Monday. Sunday night local date.
160-10M CW. Exchange: RS(T) + SPC + ARCI# or power. Bonus points
for use of battery power and a temporary antenna. Look around 14060,
7030-7045, and 3560-3564 kHz. Power multipliers. There is a new, easy
claimed score submission page. No conflict with any other contests. I
hope there will be a large turnout for this one-hour event.
8. QCX Challenges. Three one hour QRP sprints every one Monday a
month, local date. 1300Z, 1900Z, 0300Z. Exchange: RST + SPC + Rig.
Exta pints for working operators using QCX rigs. 1600-10M CW.
9. World Wide Side Band Activity Contest. 160-6M SSB. Every Monday
night local day. 0100-0159Z Tuesdays. Exchange: RS + "OM", "YL",
"Youth" or "YL Youth." This is a new event and this will be the third
week. A lot of activity is being reported, particularly under younger
operators. Let's get on and support them.
10. RTTY Ops Week Sprints. Every Tueday and Thursday. 1700-1900Z. 80,
40, 20M RTTY. Exchange: both calls, #, Name.
11. Next Wednesday Universal date, Tuesday night local date.

Exchange: RST, SPC, Name, SKCC# or "NONE." Bonus station is N0TA,
JOHN, in CO.
12. Phone Fray. Every Tuesday night local date. 0230-0259Z Wed. 15,

13. CWOps Club CWT Mini Tests. Every Wednesday local date. Three
separate one-hour min-tests. 1300Z, 1900Z, 0300Z (Thursday UTC date).
160-10M CW. Exchange: Name + CWOps# or SPC. Look around 025 5o 053

Something to look forward to and prepare for.
73, John, K4BAI
For SECC.
For information: The SECC welcomes anyone interested in contesting.
There are no dues. Sign up from the SECC home page. We have a
reflector to which this weekly report is sent and which is available for
discussion of contest related topics, gear, antennas, strategies, teams
for contests, opportunities for in-person gatherings, possible group
operations, etc. The club "circles" can be found on the home page, but
generally they include nearly all of GA, nearly all of SC, the NC areas
around Asheville and Charlotte, and a part of east central AL. Those
within a club circle for a particular contest may submit scores for SECC
in club aggregate score competitions. I am sure that ACG (Alabama) and
SFCG (South Carolina) welcome new members also. Those interesting in
the Georgia Contest Group may consult its website.
