This Week's Contests:
1. NCCC RTTY Sprint. 0145-0215Z Friday (Thursday night local date).
15, 20, 40, 80, 160M RTTY. 100W max power. One/one kHz QSY rule.
Exchange: both calls, #, name, SPC. Same band dupes OK after one
intervening QSO. Look around 082 kHz and up from 1805 kHz.
2. NCCC NS Sprint. 0230-0259Z Friday (Thursday night local date). 15,
20, 40, 80, 160M CW. 100W max power. One/one kHz QSY rule. Exchange:
both calls, #, name, SPC. No same band dupes permitted. Look around
040-046 kHz and up from 1815 kHz.
3. QRP Fox Hunt. 40M Thursday night local date. 0200-0330Z Fri. 5W
max power. Exchange: RST, SPC, Name, Power. Two foxes will be calling
between 7030 and 7050 kHz. They will be ADJDM, JOHN, RI and K0DTJ,
BRIAN, CA. We should have a good chance to work Brian and with luck,
John also. Work only the two foxes and do not spot their frequencies.
There will be no fox hunts next week due to Thanksgiving week.
4. LZ (Bulgaria) DX Contest. 1200Z Sat to 1200Z Sun. 80-10M CW/SSB.
Exchange: RS(T) + ITU Zone (for most of us, it is 08) or LZ 2 letter
district code. Lot of good stations and good operators in Bulgaria and
this can be fun, at least until SS SSB starts. Work everyone.
5. REF (France) 160M Contest. 1700Z Sat to 0100Z Sun. 160M CW.
Exchange: RSt + serial # or French Dept Code. 1810-1850 kHz only.
Rules are not clear whether we can work only French stations or can work
eveyrone, but French contests usually are work only F stations (or TM,
TO, TX special French calls).
6. ARRL November Sweepstakes, SSB . 2100Z Sat to 0300Z Mon. 160-10M
SSB. 24 hours maximum operating time for single operators. Exchange:
#, Precedence (Q, A, B, U, M, S), call, check (last two numbers of year
first licensed), ARRL/RAC section. There are 84 sections and a few ops
will probably work them all. Q = QRP. A = LP. B = HP. U = unlimited
(single op plus spots category), M + Multi ops (can use spots), S =
school. There is a club competition so be sure to put your club in the
header of your Cabrillo file. For SECC it is: South East Contest Club.
7. K1USN Slow Speed Test. 0000-0100Z Monday (Sunday night local date).
20 WPM max sending speed. Exchange: Name + SPC. (You can use your
NAQP CW contest module.) 20, 40, 80M. Suggested frequencies: 030-039
kHz on each band.
8. WorldWide Side Band Activity Contest. Every Monday night local date.
0100-0159Z. 160-6M SSB. Exchange: RS + age/gender category (OM, YL,
YL Youth, Youth).
9. Straight Key Century Club Week Day Sprint (SKS). 0000-0200Z Wed.
(Tuesday night local date). 160-6M CW. Use a mechanical key. Exchange:
RSt + SPC + Name + CWOps# or "NONE." Bonus station this month is K3MSB.
10. Phone Fray. Every Tuesday night local date. 0230-0259Z Wed. 15,
20, 40, 80, 160M SSB. 100W max power. Exchange: Name + SPC. (You can
use your NAQP SSB contest module.) Look around 21315, 14250, 7175,
3800, and 1875 kHz.
11. CWOps Club CWT Mini Tests. Every Wednesday local date. Three
separate one-hour mini-tests. 1300Z, 1900Z, 0300Z (Thursday UTC date).
Exchange: Name + CWOps # or SPC. 160-10M CW. Look around 023-051 kHz
on each band except lower on 160M. These are very popular and can be a
lot of fun. The CWTs and the NCCC NS are excellent ways to build up
your CW contesting abilities.
Hope everyone has a nice week and weekend and a lot of QSO, particularly
in Sweepstakes. Lets have some good competition for the medium and
small sized club gavel.
73, John, K4BAI
