Upcoming Contests:
Next Thursday, I wiil be driving to Huntsville, AL to operate with K4AB
in the IARU contest the next weekend. We will be practicing for WRTC
which will be held in Italy in July 2023. Either I will get out an
abbreviated report on Wednesday or early Thursday or I will double up
the following week. So, I will be going out a bit further as to
upcoming contests than I ordinarily do.
1. RAC Canada Day Contest. This is every July 1 for the 24 hour period
UTC and celebrates the independence of Canada. 160-2M CW and Phone.
Exchange: RS(T) + serial # or VE province/territory. Work everyone,
not just Canadian stations. KU8E and I will be participating in a
remote M/M entry under the call sign W1VE and W1VE is hoping to set a
new M/M USA record for this contest. This is a fun contest and I hope
you will participate to the extent you have time.
2. QRP Fox Hunt. 0100-0230Z today, Thursday. Two QRP Foxes will be
calling between 14050 and 14070 kHz. 5W max power for everyone. Work
only the two foxes and do not spot or report their frequencies.
Exchange: RST + SPC + Name + Power. Foxes usually start out listening
"UP," and may listen simplex after the pileup has gone down. K4OAQ has
a real time mapping program available. Foxes will be K4BAI, JOHN, GA
and WX2S, STEVE, NJ.
3. NCCC RTTY Sprint. Every Thursday night local date. 0145-0215Z
Friday. 15, 20, 40, 80, 160M RTTY. Exchange: both calls, #, name,
SPC. 100W max power. One/one kHz QSY rule. Look around 080-090 kHz on
the higher bands and up from 1805 kHz on 160M. Same band dupes OK after
one intervening QSO.
4. NCCC NS Sprint. Every Thursday night local date. 0230-0259Z
Friday. 15, 20, 40, 80, 160M CW. Excchane: both calls, #, name, SPC.
100W max power. One/one kHz QSY rule. Look around 040-046 kHz on the
higher bands and up from 1815 kHz on 160M. No same band dupes allowed.
5. KRC K1USN Slow Speed Test. Every Friday. 2000-2100Z. 160-10M CW.
Max speed 20 WPM. Exchange: name + SPC. Mults count per band. Look
around 029 to 053 kHz on the higher bands and around 1820 kHz on 160M.
6. Venezuela Independence Day Contest. 24 hours of Saturday UTC date.
160-10M CW, SSB, Digital. Exchange: RS(T) + serial #. Work everyone.
7. Marconi Memorial HF Contest. 1400Z Sat to 1400Z Sun. 160-10M CW.
Exchange: RST + serial #. Work everyone.
8. KRC K1USN Slow Speed Test (SST). 0000-0100Z Monday (Sunday night
local date). See # 5 above.
9. ICWC Medium Speed Tests (MST). Every Monday/Tuesday. Three
separate one-hour tests. Exchange: Name + serial #. 1300Z and 1900Z
Monday and 0300Z Tuesday (Mon night local date). Max speed 25 WPM.
10. Adventure Radio Society Spartan Sprint. Every first Monday local
date. This Monday local date, 0100-0300Z Tuesday. 160-10M CW. 5W max
power. Exchange: RST + SPC + Power. Most activity seems to be on or
near 14060, 7030-7045, 3560 kHz.
11. A1Club AWT. Every Wed. 1200-1300Z. 160-10M CW. Exchange: RST +
Name. AlClub is in Japan and activity is centered there. We can work
each other, however. Most activity seems to be on 40 and 20M.
12. CWOps Club CWT Tests. Every Wed/Thurs. Four separate one-hour
tests. 160-10M CW. Exchange: Name + CWOps # or SPC. Look around 023
to 053 kHz on the higher bands and up from 1815 kHz on 160M. Lot of
activity in these and a good place for CW contest practice.
13. Straight Key Century Club Week Day Test - Europe (SKS-E). 160-6M
CW. Use a mechanical key. 1900-2100Z Thursday. Exchange: RST, SPC,
Name, SKCC# or "NONE." Most activity is between 50 and 65 kHz up on the
higher bands and lower n 160M. You can work any other station, not just
Europeans.

above.
16. K1USN SST. See #5 above.
16. Straight Key Century Club Week End Sprintathon. 160-6M CW. Use a
mechanical key. Exchange: RST + SPC + SKCC# or "NONE." Most activity
seems to be from 045 to 065 kHz on the higher bands and up from 1815 kHz
on 160M. Emphasis this month is 13 Colonies and you can claim 5 bonus
points for QSOs with the original 13 colonies.
17. IARU World Championship. 1200Z Sat to 1200Z Sun, July 9/10.
160-10M CW, Ph. Exchange: RS(T) + ITU zone # or IARU Society HQ
abbreviations. In the USA, there are usually "ARRL" and "IARU" HQ
stations. This is a very popular contest and many top contesters will
be using it to practice for WRTC next summer in Italy. Look for K4AB on
both modes and all bands.
18. QRP ARCI Summer Sprint. 2000-2300Z Sunday, July 10. 160-10M CW.
Exchange: RST + SPC + ARCI# or power. There are power multipliers.
19. 4 States QRP Group Second Sunday Sprint. 0000-0200Z Monday, July
11. 5W max power CW and 10W max power SSB. 160-10M CW + SSB. Exchange:
RST + SPC + 4S# or power. Most activity seems to be around 14060,
7022 and 3564 kHz. Possibly also 7040 when the SST is not running.
20. KRC K1USN Slow Speed Test. See #8 above.
Hope everyone has a nice week and week end and a lot of QSOs. 73, John,
K4BAI. For SECC.
