This Week's Contests:
I may not be able to get out a score report next week. I will be
leaving here Tuesday afternoon and won't return until the following
Wednesday. KU8E, K4AB, N8VW, and I will be going to Bonaire Island in
the Caribbean for the CQ WW DX Contest, CW. We will be M/S or M/2 as
PJ4A. Wed to Wed outside the contest, we will be QRV as PJ4/home
calls. QSL PJ4A, PJ4/K4BAI, and PJ4/KU8E via K4BAI. Others via home
calls. The PJ4A and PJ4/KU8E logs will be uploaded to LOTW.
So, I will try to cover the next two weeks in contests. If I say
"every" day, it should apply to both weeks.
1. QRP Fox Hunt, 80M. Thursday night local date. 0200-0330Z Friday.
Two QRP Foxes (N4FP, WAYNE, FL and N7CQR, DAN OR) will be QRV betweeen
3550 and 3570 kHz. 5W max power. Exchange: RST, SPC, name, power.
Work only the two foxes and do not spot their frequencies.
2. NCCC RTTY Sprint. Every Thursday night local date, 0145-0215Z
Friday. 15, 20, 40, 80, 160M RTTY. 100W max power. Exchange: both
calls, #, name, SPC. Same band dupes OK after one intervening QSO. Max
power 100W. One/one kHz QSY rule. Look around 080 to 090 kHz on the
higher bands and up from 1805 kHz on 160M.
3. NCCC NS Sprint. Every Thursday night local date, 0230-0259Z Friday.
100W max power. One/one kHz QSY rule. Exchange: both calls, #, name,
SPC. No same band dupes OK. Look around 040 to 046 kHz on the higher
bands and up from 1815 kHz on 160M. It's possible some of us could be
QRV from PJ4/home calls in this one. If so, remember that the South
American islands do count as mults along with the usual North American
mults.
4. KRC K1USN Slow Speed Test (SST). 2000-2100Z every Friday. Max
speed 20 WPM. 160-10M CW. Exchange: Name + SPC. Stations outside
North America (such as PJ4) need only send Name and do not count as
multipliers. Look around 029 to 049 kHz on the higher bands and around
1820 kHz on 160M
5. LZ (Bulgaria) DX Contest. 1200Z this Saturday until 1200Z this
Sunday. 80-10M, CW and SSB. Exchange: RS(T) + ITU zone or 2 letter LZ
District. Work everyone.
6. South Amnerican Integration Contest, CW. Not sure exactly what the
name implies as this is a new one for me. 1800Z Sat to 2100Z Sun.
80-10M CW. Exchange: RST + ITU zone or "M" for member of CWSP club
(Brazil) or QRP for QRP stations or YL for YL operators.
7. ARRL November Sweepstakes, SSB. 2100Z Sat to 0300Z Mon. 24 hours
maximum operating time with minimum of 30 minutes off times. 160-10M
SSB. Exchange: QSO #, your call, precedent (A, B, Q, M, S, U), "check"
(last two digits of first licensed operator or station) + ARRL/RAC
section. There is a club aggregate score competition, so be sure to
include your club (such as "South East Contest Club") in your Cabrillo
log header and from the pull down box on the log upload site. Do this
only if you are within the ARRL circle for your club. See club websites.
8. FISTS Sunday Sprint. 2100-2300Z Sunday. 80-10M CW. Maximum power
100W. Exchange: RST + SPC + Name + FISTS# or "0,"
9. Flying Pigs November Run for the Bacon Contest. 2300Z Sun to 0100Z
Mon. 160-10M CW. Max power 5W. Exchange: RST + SPC + FP# or power.
After the SST starts up at 0000Z, you might want to try 40M around 7115
to 7125 kHz. SST shouldn't affect 20M or 80M QRP frequencies.
10. KRC K1USN Slow Speed Test. 0000-0100Z every Monday. See #4 above.
11. ICWC Medium Speed Tests. Every Monday/Tuesday. Three separate
one-hour tests. 160-10M CW. Max speed 25 WPM. Exchange: RST + QSO#.
Look around 030 to 050 kHz on the higher bands and lower on 160M.
12. Straight Key Century Club (SKCC) Week Day Sprint (SKS). 0000-0200Z
Wed (Tuesday night November 22 local date). Use a mechanical key.
Exchange: RST, SPC, Name, SKCC# or "NONE."
13. Fox Extravaganza. Instead of the usual QRP fox hunts during
Thanksgiving week, there will be two fox extravaganza contests. Max
power 5W. 0300-0330Z Wed and Fri (Tues and Thurs local dates). 160M
only. Work any of the other QRP stations. Look mainly between 1808 and
1820 kHz.
14. CWOps Club CWT Test. Every Wed/Thurs. Four separate one-hour
tests. 160-10M CW. Wed 1300Z and 1900Z and Thurs 0300Z and 0700Z.
Exchange: Name + CWOps# or SPC. Look around 023 to 052 kHz on the
higher bands and lower on 160M.
15. CQ World Wide DX Contest, CW. The weekend after Thanksgiving. 48
hours of Sat/Sun UTC dates. 160-10M CW. Exchange: RST + CQ Zone. Same
country QSOs do not count for points, but you may work them to get their
zone for a multiplier. This is the big CW DX Contest of the year.
Listen for PJ4A if you get a chance.
16. Ham Spirit Contest, SSB. 0600Z Sat to 0559Z Sunday after
Thanksgiving. 160-10M SSB. Exchange: RST + ITU Zone + two character
grid field (ours in this area would be "EM.") The CW portion of this
new contest was held a few weeks ago. Probably on the CQ WW CW contest
weekend. There wasn't a lot of activity, but there was some. It is
something for the contester who can't or doesn't want to work the DX
contest on the other mode could poarticipate in.
17. QRP Fox Hunt Tuesday after Thanksgiving local date. 0200-0330Z
Wed. 40M CW. 5W max power. Exchange: RST, SPC, Name, Power. The two
foxes will be N7CQR, DAN, OR and KV2X TOM, NY. Work only the two foxes
and do not spot their frequencies. They will be between 7030 and 7050 kHz.
18. QRPARCI 160M Sprint. Thursday Dec 1 0000-0300Z (Wed night local
date). 169M CW. There are power multiplliers. Exchange: RST, SPC,
ARCI# or power.
19. Thursday afternoon of that week will be the SKCC-Europe Sprint.
20. Thursday evening local date, Friday UTC. The 80M QRP Fox Hunt as
usual. Foxes will be KB9LLD, TONY, MO and K0DTJ, BRIAN, CA.
21. The first full weekend in December will be as usual the ARRL 160M
Contest on CW only.
Hope everyone has a nice couple of weeks, a great Thanksgiving, and a
lot of QSOs. 73, John, K4BAI for SECC.
