This Week's Contests:
NOTE: KU8E is going to register South East Sprint Coalition teams for
NCJ North American Sprint CW this Saturday night. If you want to be on
a team, e-mail Jeff at ku8e at ku8e.com and tell him how much of the four
hours you intend to operate and what your power level will be. Let's be
sure to have a lot of activity from the South East. Thanks.
1. NCCC RTTY Sprint. Every Thursday night. 0145-0215Z Friday. 15, 20,
40, 80, 160M RTTY. 100W max power. One/one kHz QSY rule. Exchange:
both calls, #, name, SPC. Same band dupes OK after one intervening QSO.
Look around 080-090 kHz on the higher bands and up from 1805 kHz on 160M.
2. QRP Fox Hunt 80M. 0200-0330Z. 3550-3570 kHz. 5W maximum power.
Exchange: RST, SPC, Name, Power. The two foxes are scheduled to be
N8SS, EARL, MI and KV2X, TOM, NY. Work only the two foxes and do not
spot their frequencies. The foxes usually start out listening split
"UP" and it is a good place to practice your split frequency operation.
3. NCCC NS Sprint. Every Thursday night. 0230-0300Z. 15, 20, 40, 80,
160M CW. 100W max power. One/one kHz QSY rule. Exchange: both calls,
#, name, SPC. No same band dupes permitted. This is a good way to
practice or check out your set up for NA Sprint Saturday night. Look
around 040-046 kHz on the higher bands and up from 1815 kHz on 160M.
4. KRC K1USN Slow Speed Test. Every Friday. 2000-2100Z. 160-10M CW.
Exchange: Name + SPC. Maximum speed 20 WPM. Mults count per band.
Look around 029 to 049 kHz and the higher bands and lower on 160M.
5. Vermont QSO Party. 48 hours of weekend UTC. 160-UHF all modes (see
rules for FT8 details). Exchange: RS(T) + S/P/DX or VT county. There
are power multipliers. This is the first state QSO party of the year so
you can start your year long pursuit of the State QSO Party awards.
6. 10-10 International Club Winter Contest, Phone. 48 hours of weekend
UTC. 10 Meter Phone. Exchange: Name + 10-10 # + SPC. If you don't
have a 10-10 number give "0" instead.
7. Mexico International RTTY Contest. 1200Z Sat to 2359Z Sunday.
80-10M RTTY. Exchange: RST + serial # or XE state.
8. European DX Contest. 1200Z Sat to 1200Z Sun. 160-10M CW, SSB.
Exchange: RS(T) + ITU Zone # or 4-character EU Region.
9. F9AA Cup Contest, CW. 1200Z Sat to 1200Z Sun. 80-10M + 2M CW.
Exchange: RST + serial #. There is seldom much activity heard in this one.
10. FOC QSO Party. For information only. This is a closed (members
only) QSO party. 2100Z Friday to 2100Z Sunday. 160-10M CW. Exchange:
RST + FOC#. If you are a member and enter this one, please send me your
time of operation, power level, and claimed QSOs and final score as I
don't have any way to get a list of claimed scores any time soon. Thanks.
11. Minnesota QSO Party. 1400Z to 2400Z Saturday. 160-10M CW/RTTY/Dig
(No FTx), Phone. Exchange: Name, + S/P/DX or MN county.
12. FYBO Winter QRP Sprint. 1400-2400Z Sat. 160-10M CW, SSB, Dig. 5W
max power. Exchange: RS(T) + SPC + Name + temperature (F). Bonus
points for QSOs with NQ7RP. Look around 28060, 21060, 14060, 7030-7045,
3560, and 1810 kHz. If you work this one, please send me your claimed
score as I don't have anywhere to find claimed scores on a timely basis.
13. British Columbia QSO Party. 1600Z Sat to 0359Z Sun. 1600- Sun to
0359Z Mon. 160-10M CW, SSB. Exchange: RST + S/P/DX or BC District.
14. NCJ North American Sprint, CW. 0000-0359Z Sunday (Saturday night
local date). 20, 40, 80M CW. Exchange: both calls, #, Name, SPC.
One/Five kHz QSY rule. This means that if a station calls you, after
the exchange with that station, you must QSY one kHz to call another
station or 5 kHz to call CQ again. There are team entries. See note
just before #1 above about joining a SESC team. You can run HP, LP, or QRP.
15. KRC K1USN Slow Speed Test. 0000-0100Z Monday (Sunday night local
date). See #4 above.
16. ICWC Medium Speed Tests. Every Mon/Tues. Three separate one-hour
medium speed tests. Maximum speed: 25 WPM. 160-10M CW. Exchange:
Name + serial #. Look around 029 to 049 kHz on the higher bands and
lower on 160M.
17. Adventure Radio Society February Spartan Sprint. Tuesday night
0200-0400Z (Monday night local date). 80-10M CW. Max power 5W.
Exchange: RST + SPC + power. Most activity around 14060, 7030-7045,
and 3560 kHz.
18. February North American QRP CW Club (NAQCC) Sprint. 0130-0330Z Wed
(Tuesday night local date). 20, 40, 80M CW. Max power 5W. Exchange:
RST + SPC + NAQCC# or power. Use a mechanical key (straight key, bug,
cootie). Double your score for using a straight key and 1 1/2 times
your score for using a bug or cootie. Most activity centers around
14060, 7030-7045, and 3560 kHz.
19. QRP Fox Hunt, 40M. Tuesday night local date. 0200-0330Z Wed. Two
QRP Foxes are NC4RT, Randy, NC and W9CF, Kevin, AZ. Frequencies 7030 to
7050. See #2 above.
20. CWOps Club CWT Tests. Every Wed/Thurs. Four separate one-hour
tests. Wed 1300 and 1900Z. Thurs 0300 and 0700Z. 160-10M CW.
Exchange: Name + CWOps# or SPC. Look for activity from about 023 to
049 kHz on the higher bands and lower on 160M.
Something for almost everyone this weekend. I hope everyone has a nice
week and weekend and a lot of QSOs.
Next week, I'll try to get the report out by Wednesday, since KU8E and I
are going to the Orlando HamCation Thursday-Saturday. We should be QRV
as K4BAI/M going down and back on CW. There is a contest dinner in
Orlando Friday night with W2GD, John Crovelli, as speaker. At last
report there were a few tickets left for the dinner. Email W4WF, Chris.
73, John, K4BAI. For SECC.
