15. North American QRP CW Club 160M Sprint.
K4JPN 4 4 64 SO QRP SWA Straight Key GA
This Week's Contests:
1. NCCC RTTY Sprint. 0145-0215Z Friday (Thurs night local date). 15,
20, 40, 80, 160M RTTY. 100W max power. 1/1 kHz QSY rule. Exchange:
both calls, #, name, SPC. Same band dupes OK after one intervening QSO.
Look around 080-090 kHz on the higher bands and up from 1805 kHz on 160M.
2. QRP Fox Hunt 80M. 0200-0330Z Friday (Thurs night local date). Two
QRP Foxes will be QRV between 3550 and 3570 kHz. 5W max power.
Exchange: RST, SPC, Name, Power. 5W max power. Foxes will be WX2S
STEVE NJ and K9DRP DON IL. Work only the two foxes and do not spot
their frequencies.
3. NCCC NS Sprint. Every Thursday night local date. 0230-0259Z
Friday. 15, 20, 40, 80, 160M CW. 100W max power. 1/1 kHz QSY rule.
Exchange: both calls, #, name, SPC. No same band dupes permitted. Look
around 040 to 046 kHz on the upper bands and up from 1815 kHz on 160M.
This is good practice for the NCJ NA Sprint, which will be the first
Saturday (local date) in February.
4. KRC K1USN Slow Speed Test (SST). Fridays 2000-2100Z. 160-10M CW.
Exchange: Name + SPC. Max speed 20 WPM. Look around 029 to 049 kHz on
each band, but lower on 160M. For us, the activity usually starts on
20M and moves down to 40M.
5. CQ 160M Contest, CW. 2200Z Friday to 2200Z Monday. 30 hours max
time for single ops. 160M CW only. Exchange: RST + S/P for US/VE and
RST + CQ zone for others.
6. REF (France) Contest, CW. 0600Z Sat to 1800Z Sun. 80-10M CW.
Exchange: RST + French Dept # or prefix for possessions. RST + serial
# for all others. Work only French and French possession stations.
7. BARTG RTTY Sprint. 1200Z Sat to 1200Z Sun. 80-10M RTTY. Exchange:
only serial #. Work everyone.
8. UBA (Belgium) DX Contest, SSB. 1300Z Sat to 1300Z Sun. 80-10M SSB.
Exchange: RS + serial # or ON section. Work everyone.
9. Winter Field Day. 1900Z Sat to 1900Z Sun. All bands except WARC
and 60M. Any mode. Max power 100W. Exchange: Category + ARRL/RAC
section or "MX" (Mexico) or "DX: for those outside US/Canada/Mexico.
This one seems to have more interest and more activity every year. The
Columbus ARC will be QRV as W4CVY. Category is combination of number of
transmitters in simultaneous operation and I for indoors, O for
outdoors, H for home, and M for mobile. So a single home station would
be in Category 1H.
10. KRC K1USN Slow Speed Test (SST). 0000-0100Z Monday (Sunday night
local date). See #4 above. Activity may start on 20, but most QSOs are
on 40M, and most end up on 80M. Look around 029 to 49 kHz and around
1820 kHz on 160m.
11. ICWC Medium Speed Tests (MST). Every Mon/Tues. Monday 1300Z and
1900Z and Tuesday 0300Z. Three separate one-hour tests. 160-10M CW.
Look around 029 to 046 kHz on the higher bands and lower on 160M.
12. QRP Fox Hunt 40M. Same as #2 above except the frequencies are 7030
to 7050 kHz and the foxes are NK6A, DON, CA and N9EP, ED.
13. CWOps Club CWTs. Every Wed/Thurs. Four separate one-hour tests.
160-10M CW. Exchange: Name + CWOps # or SPC. Look around 023 to 049
kHz on the higher bands and up from 1815 kHz on 160M. Tuesday: 1300Z
and 1900Z. Wednesday: 0300Z and 0700Z.
14. Straight Key Century Club Sprint - Europe. (SKS-E). Thursday
2000-2200Z. 160-6M CW. Use a mechanical key. Exchange: RST, SPC,
Name, SKCC# or "NONE." In our area most activity starts on 20 and moves
down to 40M. You can work anyone, not just Europeans.
Hope everyone has a nice week and weekend. Saturday of next week will
be NCJ NA Sprint CW. KU8E will be getting up teams for it under he
Southeast Sprint Coalition Banner. Please e-mail Jeff at ku8e at ku8e.com
and tell him your power level and approximate how much of the 4-hour
contest period you will be able to operate.
Larry, K4AB, and I will continue to be QRV as N4W in the WRTC January
event through the end of January UTC date. Please give us a call if you
hear us. You can work any of the WRTC Special Event stations each UTC
date on each band and mode.
73, John, K4BAI for SECC.
