Jamie,
Attached below is a partial list of where, when and what state my skimmers
thought you were in at the indicated date and time. From what I can see, my
skimmers thought you were opearating much more in run mode than in S&P. I
would be curious to know how this correlates to truth, but I realize that
wouldn't be a good use of anyone's time. :-)
There is one issue that we all need to make sure we each address as we start
comparing spot data, and that is calibration of frequency and time of our
respective receivers and computer clocks. I use the Dimension 4 application
to keep my computer systems synchronized to time.nist.gov, which I found to
have the least amount of latency from my particular QTH... Frequency
calibration has turned out to be a non-trivial issue especially when running
more than one SDR-IQ. Apparently the frequency calibration compensation
factor is kept in the skimmer.ini file. The skimmer application doesn't
allow for itself to be dedicated to one specific receiver. Therefore, at
least for my system, I have to make sure that I start the skimmer
applications in a very specific order so that the appropriate skimmer
application actually associates with the receiver whose compensation
parameter is contained in its .ini file. It sure would be nice to have a
more elegant solution to this situation than just watching for the correct
light to flash when a particular skimmer application is started...
By the way, I mine the skimmer data stream for information on both CQ'ers
and S&P'ers; each represents a different type of "signal of interest."
73,
Rick
