[Skimmertalk] Now what - other contesting uses for Skimmer?

I don't get it. What's the difference between cross checking logs to
verify a claimed QSO and analyzing band recordings to verify rule
compliance? It's no different than instant replay in sports. If
anything, it would seem to me to be less prone to abuse to have the
sponsors be able to directly monitor a contest than to rely on data from
other contesters.
Eventually, I could envision Skimmer-like software being able to monitor
contest activity on a sample basis to look for all sorts of rule
violations that wouldn't show up in the collective logs. For example, I
worked one U.S. ham in the IARU contest that only gave his zone ... no
signal report (yeah, I know we recently went through all that on the
contesting reflector). I thought maybe it was just an oversight so I
listened for his next few QSOs. He kept doing the same thing so I
deleted him from my log. I wouldn't be at all surprised to see software
within the next couple of years that can post-analyze a band recording
to flag that sort of thing.
It's 1984 if someone or something is monitoring your private behavior in
a personal setting, but I don't see how you make that leap for a public
event with rules and guidelines you agreed to follow when you decided to
participate in it.
