I have been using no-name RP 3 power supplies with good results. They are typically rated at 2.5A.
Some need the 5V cable run 4-5 times through a suitable (i.e. active below 30MHz) clip-on ferrite to be completely quiet.

This thread was started on SkimmerTalk, so let's keep it there please.

It's not an issue of the software on the RP.  SkimSrv produces the same error message "Too many receivers" for dozens of different reasons, including interruptions to Ethernet connections, Router reboot, opening the RP UI with a web browser and restarting an app, Aggregator restarting SkimSrv on a schedule, changes to band coverages when using CWSL_Tee , etc.

The only unique situation here is that the power supply fan is speeding up and slowing down.  The RP software doesn't support variable fan speeds.

Perhaps 3D2AG's fan is clogged and not spinning freely, causing too much current drain, and it only crashes when the CPU also starts drawing a lot of current, which only happens when SkimSrv starts streaming data from the receivers in the RP.

I had this error to start with and I am pretty sure it was because the radio software wasn’t started on the Red Pitaya.  I would need to check but 99% sure that was the problem.

3D2AG's Red Pitaya is having problems, and since the issue seems to be correlated with varying RP fan speeds, I think his power supply or RP cable is having problems.  The symptom is that SkimSrv starts OK, works for less than 30 seconds, then "Too many receivers" and network traffic drops to zero.  We've tried various combinations of CAT6 Ethernet cabling via Ethernet Switch and via Router with no success.  It used to work fine with no issues.

Has anyone tried using a Raspberry Pi power supply with the RP, or does it use some type of proprietary USB signalling to produce full output?

There are many options:

I wonder which one is RF quiet (the one provided with the RP is actually kinda noisy).
