Thanks for the note, Prasad. The smoke escaping from the IC tells me this is an older version package that used cork gaskets for sealing. Look for the newer versions that use rubber O-rings instead. That should help double the service life of the interface components!  :D :D :D

Just a quick note that the RBN node here has gone down today.

The QS1R which has given years of service has once again given up the smoke - it looks like the USB chip has gone South again.

Device manager shows unidentified USB device.

Will investigate further beginning with voltage regulator outputs etc.
