Advice from Scout/Argo 555/556 owner

| When I crank the volume down to nothing, I get what I can only describe
| as a "whine" out of the speaker or headphones, maybe 500-600 Hz.  When I
| spin the knob (tune the radio) it becomes modulated.

My Scout does the same. I think I read something about this in the manual. I 
use an attenuator in the headphone line and crank the volume up. Works fine 
and lets me get some use out of the volume control.
