There were a few of them, the notable one (to me) is adding another
crystal filter in the IF chain.  It is easy to do, is shown in a
1983 QST article and some of the QRP Quarterly issues.  You can
add a CW filter this way, or (like I did) just add another 4 pole
SSB filter in series with the one already there for much better 
SSB selectivity on receive and reduced blowby.

There was a QRP Quarterly article recently with a bunch of mods for
the Argonaut 509, anyone remember it?  I can dig it out if no one 
else recalls in the next day or two.  I have it in a drawer at 
home.
