power supplies

Greeting to all.

I am getting ready to buy an Omni VI, and I found out about the power supply being
"optional." That is just as well, because I had been planning on using one BIG 12V
supply for the shack anyway.

Scott at TenTec told me to try and get something that will do at least 22A, but I am
planning on more like 30 or 50A.

By the way, what is the requirement in amps for the TenTec solid-state amp? I could
easily end up with that later on...

I see in the AES catalog that they carry two lines of 12V supplies, Astron and
Tripp-Lite. The Astron line *appears* to offer more amps for the $, but I wonder.
What I do like about the Astron line is that they offer more pounds of power
transformer for the $.

Has anyone had any experience with these? Any other alternatives? What I would
really like is a 220V version of the 50A Astron supply, but I checked, and AES does
not carry such a thing, only the 32A supply comes that way. Thanks for your help...
