[TenTec] Omni-6/Alpha amp

I am using a newly aquired omni-6 to drive an alpha amp. All OK in ssb, but
in CW the first character sent often causes the amp to trip out with a
fault.  This does not happen when I use either my FT-1000 or IC-735.  

Anyone else with similar problems? any suggestion?
