[TenTec] Query: Value of Model 253 Antenna Coupler?

Hello all.

I have a friend here in town who's offered to sell me his Ten-Tec station. 
On of the items is a Model 253 automatic transmatch.

Like I said, he's a friend, so we've gotten into a strange loop: he tells me
to make him an offer, and I tell him to tell me what he wants for it!
We don't want to hurt each other's feelings...

I almost never see them advertised individually, and know only that when TT
last sold them, they were $1000 (!!!) or so.

I'd appreciate any opinions about its *fair market value*.  Notice I said
"fair", as in "honest" or "true".
