I have just covered this with Scott at Tentec, and the 229B is the same
tuner as the 238, but the 238 has the open-wire toroid standard equipment.
If installed in the 229-series, then they are functionally the same.
You mentioned a 229A, I'm not sure it's the same.
Incidently, the roller inductor used in these units, and offered for sale
individually, is rated at 18uh. No other values (28uh, 19uh, etc) apply.
Scott told me several misprints had crept into the sales/service docs :-)
