Hi John,
You can use a standard serial cable like TenTec says, but if you are going
to be using any of the contesting software i.e. CT,NA, or TR, then you
should make your own cable. You DO NOT need a null modem cable because
TenTec has already done the necessary crossover of TxD and RxD inside the
OMNI-VI. Your own cable only needs three wires to cover TxD, RxD, and
ground, at the computer end you can jump out the handshaking signals like
they show in the manual. If you are using a DB25 connector at the computer
then just wire pin 2 to 2, 3 to 3, and 7 to 7, for a DB9 at the computer
then its 2 to 3, 3 to 2, and 5 to 7. Hope this helps
