[TenTec] Turning down Scout power

I did not see anyone answer the query, so here goes.

The power pot is on the bottom of the rig, and you need a very small Jeweler's
screwdriver or alignment tool to turn the screwdriver pot.

It decreases power as you turn counter clockwise as I recall. Should be a
simple matter of turning it slowly until you have the power at key down that
you want. The built in power meter setting will give you an indication as you
key the radio and turn the pot.

However, if this is what you tried and it does not change, make sure your
meter is set to measure Power, not SWR.

And if you get erratic jumping in the power setting after you take the tool
off the pot you may have a bad pot. It is a simple matter to unsolder it from
the board and replace it with a similar PCB mount screw driver adjust pot, but
you might want to consider using a shaft type pot and enlarging the hole in
case to place the shaft coming out the case so a knob can be used if you
change power often.

Mine is very stable once I set a given power maximum. Worked for a QRP field
day, and was checked with external power meter, (Bird) before and after the
contest, and it had not changed from the 5 watt setting.
