I think I forgot to post this to the reflector, but just sent to the person
asking the question.  I replied that, out of laziness, I just installed the
internal 9V alkaline battery in my K-1, and each of them has lasted for about
18 months, including CW contests.  So, I just replace the battery when the
keyer loses its brains, and all has been well.  I think I'm on the 4th battery
now after 6 years or so with the keyer.  Ah, the beauty of CMOS!
