[TenTec] Caveat Emptor--It Only Takes One

Hi Everyone,

Sorry to use up bandwidth on this  but I need to vent about a sour
experience in buying an item over the TT Reflector.

Over the past 2 1/2 years I have bought and sold quite a few things  
over the TT Reflector and its been a great experience. All of you have
been great to deal with. A real pleasure. Those of you who have done
business with me know that I am a straight arrow in either the purchase
or sale of gear. I have shipped several large items before receipt of
payment to insure prompt receipt by the buyer. Several of you have done
the same for me.

Three weeks ago a ham from Hollywood FLA responded to my WTB for a #282
filter. We agreed on terms and I sent him a postal money order. Now 3
weeks later no filter and in response to my two phone calls he
acknkowledges receipt of the check but will not promise when he will
ship the filter.  Excuses range from inability to get to UPS or USPS to
emergency surgery scheduled on the next day (on 2 occassions!). 
Meanwhile his e-mail was disconnected. After my second phone call last
Wednesday he accused me of "putting pressure on him" and hung up when I
asked for my money back.  Who's kidding who here? Like you told me Jon,
"I'm only human."

So gang if you're going to deal with a ham named Jon from Hollywood FLA
be VERY CAREFUL. 

And if by chance you're reading this Jon how about doing the right thing
and living up to your end of our deal. I'm an easy going guy but really
don't like to be taken. And Jon I'm not a fool. Then maybe you really
need the money more than me.
