Rick,
Put a Tee in line before your tuner goes to your rig.
On the Tee, put a coax plug with one component inside. This should be a 100K
ohm resistor from center pin to grounded shell.
This will draw little power from either the transmitted signal or the
received, in comparison to the 50 ohm rig. Thus, it is transparent to the
rig, but will dissipate any static charge from any antenna that goes thru the
tuner, even with series cap, if that type. It will "drain" the charge from
the coax to rig.
A half watt or quarter watt resistor will work fine for a 100 watt rig, as you
have a ration there of the resistor is 2000 times the impedance of the matched
antenna matching unit, (50 ohms). Thus, current in it is 1/2000 of the
current to the antenna.
