[TenTec] CW filter problem ??

Sent the Corsair I radio to Ten-tec but did not explain it well enough
for Ten-Tec to duplicate it ,  or identify ,  fix or say that it is
normal.

Tune in a station. In this case it was on 40M looking for the qrp-L fox .
Switch from wide to narrow filter, 500 Hz (I think). The audio drops and
signal strength goes down six S units. (Believe this is normal.)  The
audio frequency of station agrees with the spot frequency. 

Now by using the pass band tuning the signal comes up.  -  Is this
normal?
