The comment about RIT, etc., is that you cannot reset controls while in
transmit.  I don't like it either, but I put up with it since I like so
much else about the rig.  You also can't switch quickly to your RX
frequency while using RIT while transmitting (QSK).  I suspect it has to
do with the microprocessor speed, and T/R logic in the firmware.  I
suspect many rigs do this in hard logic, not firmware, giving almost
instand response.  Also, the Omni RIT/XIT functions respond on "break"
(release of the button) as opposed to "make", which makes it slower since
you have to remove pressure to make the switch occur.  And, I don't know
if it bothers contesters or not, but the REV switch still does not let
you listen to the correct transmit frequency in CW if XIT is in use. 
What are little annoyances in ordinary operation get magnified in the
heat of a contest.  Fortunately, my ambitions are in the DX direction
with only a little contesting here and there to help the local club or to
catch a few new countries.  For that, I think the Omni VI+ is a superb
rig, and in the contest use I make of it, I have no complaints.  As has
been noted, the RX is worth its weight in gold!
