I read an article in a QST (from the mid-1980's?) that showed
a fellow bicycle mobile on 20m (if memory serves). He left a
"trailing wire" out behind the bicycle. Of course, that would
introduce it's own special hazards. No, it wasn't the antenna,
it was the counterpoise.

Also, folks in the late 50's and early 60's experimented with
putting TWO resonated whips on each end of their cars, and
resonating both. Then grounding one of them. This turned the
the auto body into a tuned counterpoise. Try two Hustler whips,
one on each end of the bicycle, and I bet you'll get results!

If anyone experiments with this (in cars OR bicycles) let me
know what effects you discover. It's an old idea, and I can't
claim title to it, but I do HF mobile too, and would be curious
as to the results.
