The 1N34's aren't consistent enough to predict their handling of the PIV
at RF when connected in series.

What I use is a 200 MHz Tek scope but that may be overkill. Another
workable solution is an HP-410B or 410C that uses a vacuum tube in the
AC probe that's good to several hundred volts out through about 740 MHz.
A Bird wattmeter is generally a pretty good calibration reference too,
especially near full scale.

Another scheme is to use a capacitive voltage divider on the dummy load
and the single diode probe. HP made a "red headed" divider to fit the
probe of the 410B and that worked up to 50KW at 50 ohms through the HF
bands. Or to create a power attenuator, say 15 dB and look at the RF
output voltage from that.
