CENTAUR
For the fellow that can't get the rig to key while the amp is off, place
the Centaur OPR/STBY switch in STBY if the amp is powered down. Makes
sense if you stop to think of it. But yes, it got me too until I stopped
to think about how the QSK et al worked.
ASTRON
Well, there are "some" good Astron and TenTec supplies out there. I have a
Astron RS-35M that I have been using for a main station supply for 10-15
years now ... and it has never hummed or made any other type noise to tell
me it is there, neither has the RS-20A. The 35M has been mounted in various
locations, currently on a metal shelf in a rack ... no noise .... neither
has any of my TenTec supplies hummed ... so, some work ok while being quiet.
Now, if I could only get the dang buzz out of the transformer in the
TailTwister controller!!!! I have even dismantled the transformer, placed
rubber between the frame and the core, mounted the transformer on rubber
mounts in the case ... and it STILL drives me nuts!!!! Next time I'll just
replace the blamed thing!
