Great idea for shaft grounding spring.  (The lowly paper clip.)

They also are the computer disk removal tool, and many other tool and
electronic applications as test leads, test pins for sockets, etc.  A couple
of small ones are great for poking into D connectors to see what is on various
female pins.

However, the diminishing size of newere connectors on computers taxes this
time tested improvisation.
