[TenTec] Lithium RAM-backup batteries as Omni VI

Lithium button-cells with solder-tag connectors seem hard to find here,
but the ones with no tags are abundant - probably cheaper too!
Has anybody tried soldering tags onto these cells?  any explosions etc?
any special safety precautions ?
