Well, Ten-Tec has been to many a ham fest as has other manufacturers.
Why go to the expense anymore, ham fests today are just flea markets
for outdated equipment and computer buffs.  Better to buy a radio via
mail order.

Speaking of which, if you think the Omni VI+ is expensive, how about
plunking down a 125 percent dealer mark-up.  Maybe tell the dealer
you would like to take the radio home and try it for 30 days.  I can just
see a dealer jumping on that.  Problem with the radio ?  Dealer says
ship it to the factory.  What's the difference?

Thing is, manufacturers have to stay competitive and that means cutting
costs.  Nothing wrong with buying factory direct.  If you opted for a
Mosley
yagi, it's factory direct.  How many others are going factory direct? 
Buy
a Cushcraft and blow a trap, gotta go to the factory for replacement.
How many out there bought a Gateway 2000 computer factory direct?
What's the big deal.

I guess the deal is, why aren't more people buying Ten-Tec rigs?  Why do
so many contesters not have Ten-Tec equipment?  Beats me.  I have had
Ten-Tec rigs since '77 and my only exposure to a rice box was last year's
Field Day operating a position with a ts950s doodad.  What a pity.  Lotsa
buttons, not much pleasure.
