[TenTec] QRN and using a DSP56002EVM DSP Board...

Since I got so many thoughtful responses to my posting about power line QRN
(in hindsight, I'm really not all that sure it is power line, I just assumed
that since I'm so close to the utility company towers...), I thought I would
follow up with some information I uncovered that might be of interest to
others here.

You may remember I mentioned that I have a Motorola DSP56002EVM eval
board...

Well, I discovered that there is a TON of software that has been written for
this board for amateur radio. It seems that TAPR, the packet folks, decided
it was a worthwhile platform and they designed and built and now offer for
sale a radio interface kit for this board. Their web site has filters and
modems and all kinds of stuff. Buying their interface kit won't be much
cheaper than getting a cheap commercial DSP system, but I'll be able to
write my own software and experiment with and learn more about DSP. There is
even an email reflector for the DSP group focused on amateur radio. There
are several web sites that have lots and lots of QRN filter software for it,
as well as KISS modems and on and on.

Now all I need to do is analyze their design to convert the generic radio
interface to my Omni V. If I run into any snags with that I'll run it by you
fine folks.

Thanks again for all the fine advice.
