I also put a small wire wound resistor in series with the lamps in my
Hercules II, to reduce the brightness and to prolong their life. So
far no failure, but avoid replacing the Herc lamps with anything that
draws more current ... If you do, you may have other problems, with
the 9420 power supply. The dial lamps run from its low power 15v rail,
not from the main 13v rail(s) that run the amp. It will not support
higher current lamps.
