I also have owned several Paragon tranceivers through the past few years =
and I=20
have found them to be a good buy on the used market. Some worked better
than others, so take a little care in buying one, try to find one from =
someone
you know and can trust. I certainly wouldnt mind recommending or =
selling
one to a friend of mine, or having another one for my personal use =
either..=20

  Pete,
I have ownd several Paragon's over the years and find them to be an =
excellent radio. I have experienced the "PLL out of Lock" message a =
couple of times as was mentioned earlier, but it was nothing that =
couldn't easily be overcome. It has a very good receiver and is probably =
one of the best "stock out of the box" SW receivers with it's standard =
6khz xtal filter for AM. (with a -60db BW of 11KHZ, compare that with =
the imported 20db or wider at -60db) I would not hesitate to recommend a =
Paragon to anyone as it is a very good radio....=20

    Peter,=20
Don't buy it or even think about.=20
It's probably the worst product they ever launched.=20
I know it well, but cannot do anything - I'm fried well and out.=20

For my critisism they even banned my access to the reflector.=20

Hi TenTec Users, I have been looking to add a second TenTec rig to =
the station, aside from the Pegasus which I have. I have looked at =
possibly a Triton 544 or Omni D version C--they are hard to come by or =
cost more than I can afford. But now I have found at least 5 Paragons at =
three different places and wonder if they are any good? The fact that =
five are available makes me think they might be Turkeys. How does a =
Paragon stand up to an Omni D version C? Yeah, I know what Paragon =
means; but is that advertising or something for real. Pete, W6JFR PS. I =
couldn't afford the Triton 544 which was offered at $425 --but I can =
still dream.
