		Hi John,
	You hit the nail on the head with the vertical pivot play comment. More
expensive paddles have no or very little play. that is why you pay so
much for these devices. Closer tolerances to provide better performance.
This is evident when you take a Mercury or hensley paddle, adjust it
then LIFT IT BY THE PADDLES. The adjustment stays. Some people adjust
their paddles once and forget it. 
It would be nice if we could just use two bits of hacksaw blade, a cork
and a base of wood, eh?
