The power switch in the Triton probably can't handle the full power
supply output current. If its like the Corsair II its intended to
operate the power supply line switch only. Lower current there. So the
radio shouldn't be bothered by the power supply fading off slowly. The
wiring for a Tentec supply would be that way. I take your supply is not
a Tentec?

The lamps could have been replaced with something having a lot more
power. Best for longevity of the package to get back to the low power
lamps that should have been there.

These problems should be clearly covered in the owner's manual.
