Well, there is a sound.  It has a mechanical relay (unless
the OMNI VI+ did away with mechanical relay in t/r) and 
that is not silent.  Some don't hear it, some are bothered
by it.  Ten Tec has suggestions for those who don't like
it, I have been there.
