You know, I have pondered these statements too. Have concluded they are
just very nominal ratings, probably factoring in miss-tuning episodes
and the like.

You can calculate most amps' draw by using common sense reasoning. For
example, 240V @ 20A is 4800W. Do you believe running 1500W out consumes
almost 5KW off the line?
