[TenTec] 544 Mod Info

I've recently acquired a Triton IV digital (aka 544) transceiver and have 
really enjoyed operating with the little fella.  Being the inveterate 
tweaker, I would appreciate any information on mods to this late 70's radio 
(other than the filter addition article written by Steve Mann in 9/81 QST 
which I already have).  Any and all mod information is welcome, and I 
volunteer to collate the info and publish for all to view.

In addition to general 544 mod info, I would also appreciate specific 
responses to:

1. Has anyone adopted Bob Helms' Omni mods (QEX 6/83) to the 544?

2. Has anyone outfitted a Triton or early Omni with a more highly geared 
tuning knob or a weighted tuning knob?

3. Any advice on reducing images on receive, other than reducing RF gain or 
using an external antenna tuner (what I've been doing)?  Anyone add a BCB 
filter and have success in reducing the images?
