I can confirm - the 540 has black & green lettering (mostly black). In my case,
the lettering is fine; there are worn looking areas around the mode SW and AF
gain, where the 'clear' background is yellowed.

Hello ALO--

There is an interest among owners of Ten-Tec Triton radios for refinishing
their front panels. The panels are a brushed aluminum with what appears to
be screened lettering on them. Over the years, fingers rub the lettering
off.

There are two main rigs, the Triton 540 analog model and the Triton 544
digital model. Two screens would be needed to do both rigs.

I can supply you with a new 544 panel if needed for making the screen. I'm
sure someone else would have a good 540 panel. The panels are about 4.5
inches high by 14 inches long.

The 544 panel needs one color (black), but the 540 panel may need two
colors, black and green. My memory is dim about that 540 panel.

Ideally, someone would remove his panel and ship it to you to be restored.
We would surely want some sort of durable paint to better withstand use over
many years, if possible.

Are you interested in undertaking such a project? Can you estimate the cost
of the restoration?

Many thanks,
Mike Hyder -N4NT-
