Here's several ideas to run a headset/mic to omni vi+: using any generic
headset with an eletret mic element. You need to either use
the board from the 705 mic, or homebrew a look alike in order to properly
power/bias the eletret mic element and simply copy cat the
mic connectors, or use rat shack adapters to seperate the earphone from the
mic. I use a w2ihy eq and noise gate to power the mic. and run a seperate
line to the earphone jack. I use the ptt
circuit in the eq and a shutter button to operate. The vox works equally
well. headset and shutter button available thru "all electronics" catalog. I
rigged a long chord so i can move around the shack hands free. Noone can
tell the difference between this mic and any other i use thru the w2ihy eq
and noise gate. I use Heil, D-104, TT, Shure 444 and a labtec. All but the
labtec headset/mic
are used with or without the w2ihy gizmo. The eq will need to be readjusted
with each mic change. once adjusted, the eq works wonderfully as compliments
of my audio are unsolicited.
