[TenTec] Ten Tec & RF sensitivity

We all know and love our TT rigs; just look at the level of support and
loyalty on this reflector. However, nothing in this world is perfect,
including TT. If I have found one weak spot with my Omni 6+, it has been
its sensitivity to RF.

Yes, I called TT service and yes, I too got the polite discourse on why
we shouldn't have RF in our shacks and to re-position my low outside
dipole. Well, in this day and age of restrictive covenants, low antennas
and even indoor/attic antennas, I think TT has to accept a bit of RF in
the shack as a fact of life.

I finally cured my problem with a lot of ferrite cores, but let me tell
you, it sure is harder to do it after the fact than before the fact.
When I am already spending $2300-$2500 on a radio, I would gladly pay
another five or ten bucks for ferrite beads, rf chokes and .001 bypass
caps installed inside the radio at the time of manufacture. (From
reading this reflector, it seems this is one area where the Oriental
radios do excel over TT, proving that it is do-able).

Before you turn on the flame throwers, please re-read the first sentence
above!
