Scott, here are my 2 cents:

1)  Passband tuning
2)  CW reception on either side of zero beat
3)  Use the DSP to implement noise reduction and auto-notch on RX,
audio     optimization on TX to add punch.
4)  Fixed line-level audio I/O for digital modes.
