Hi Ed--

Sorry not to have a better answer for you but those VOX units in the 262M
supplies were not made for use in an RF environment -- I've never seen one
that worked right. My answer was just to plug the microphone into the rig
as you have done. Ten-Tec did have a sheet which was supposed to provide
minor modifications to the VOX circuit that would eliminate the problems but
it really made no difference in the supplies I tried to modify.

While on the subject of the 262M supply, you should know that those did not
come with a crowbar circuit. That means that if the pass transistor in the
supply shorts, the radio will receive about 25 volts -- not at all good for
your Triton. Ten-Tec, realizing the problem, made an overvoltage protection
circuit (OVP) that installs in the supply. If installed according to their
instructions, it is mounted on the inside of the rear panel near the DC
output. It is a small circuit board about 3/4 x 2 inches with a fuse and an
SCR on it. To connect the circuit, the large red wire was cut and the ends
soldered to the board. If your supply does not have one of those installed,
you might want to contact Ten-Tec's service department and order one. Last
time I bought one, it was $15 plus shipping.
