[TenTec] Omni VI+ and Kenwood PC-1

Anybody interfaced the pc-1 phone patch with an Omni VI+? The PC-1 is an 
older kenwood device that has a four pin mic plug, and two screw lugs 
each  for audio in / audio out / phone line on the rear.. After talking to 
TT support, they told me to use the audio In Audio Out on the back of the 
rig, and bypass using the mic plug all together.. Does this make sense?
