You have answered your own question.  The fuse won't blow until 2-3 minutes
key down (assuming a 5 amp fuse).  Those breakers work in milliseconds.

While on the subject, you ought to know that Ten-Tec does not stock
replacement finals for the Argosy.  Presently they can get them at perhaps
$40 each (not sure about the exact price).  A $10 buck investment in the
breaker seems wise.  But on the other hand, you may be happy with your fuse.
