[TenTec] Omni VI slow QSK

While using my Omni VI on slow qsk with long delay I realized my
receiver does not fully mute. In fact I can hear watever signal is
present in the background (although attenuated) while the txmiter is
still keyed up, even my S meter registers this. This situation does not
happen on SSB, as I key the ptt it totally mutes my receiver. Is this
normal? !!. Any Clues?
