Turn the power supply on and then very quickly turn the rig on, listen to
the rig ... an oven will give you an audible drift for 15 seconds or so
that will be very obvious.  That's the oven.  If you turn the power supply
on for a few minutes and then turn the rig on and it doesn't drift, you
have the second "mod" that keeps the oven on while power is applied.  That
ought to tell you what you have.

The oven is really fine in most cases.  I had one that exhibited a lot of
"hunting" behavior and was disturbing for really fine digital work.  It
would oscillate back and forth for 10 Hz or so even when warm.  I got
another one in there and it is much less obvious.  This is probably where
the TCXO shines.
