The additional burden is that with software-defined radios, it's tough to
determine when development is complete.  End users and the competition are
constantly pressuring engineering to provide "more".

Yes. There are probably quite a few of us who make are living similarly. It has
been my experience that the dates given out by the marketing group are not
necessarily the same dates that engineering feels good about.
