Bill,

The first and easiest thing to try is changing your refresh rate on your
monitor. Mine defaults at 60hz which causes chaos. Raising it to 75 makes
the noise go away.

Your available rates are going to be dependent on your video card and
monitor. The higher the quality, the higher the available rates.

Also as you increase your screen resolution, higher rates are not available.
